My News on New Moon

A big thank you to Advertlets for special tickets to catch New Moon at the Curve. I dragged the Dealer along for the show and let's just say THANK GOD I MADE HIM DO HOMEWORK.

Now that's all said and done, I've had a few hours to let the movie sink in, and now I can level-headedly talk about it. Level-headed being the most rational I can come up with within a few hours and watching it only once. Bear in mind, I do love to watch movies over and over again to keep analyzing all the small details one would only notice after the first time catching it.

SPOILER ALERT!

My Views on Bella Swan a.k.a Kristen Stewart:

I think she is gorgeous. She has this very edgy look which is not at all generic and she can pull off high fashion. Her make up in New Moon trumps the hell out of her make up in Twilight (they made her look EXTRA plain in Twilight, and somewhat normal - like nothing extraordinary, but something to look at nonetheless- in New Moon).
What I REALLY didn't like though? Her expressions in both movies are EXACTLY.THE.SAME.
The whole "blinks really fast" thing is really getting on my nerves. It's the whole "One Facial Expression" thing that JJ and Ean and I talked about in the morning.

I kinda Tweeted that I was psyched about catching New Moon later that night and they decided to call me and ask me to explain the big hype on radio.

Overall, I think she pulled off Bella's breakdown really well. I guess it's pretty hard to be really close to Jacob without physical contact, but really, she looked like she was getting fresh with him every single time. -_-"

You don't wanna be with him but you pull his hair and put your forehead against his?! Yeah, like the adolescent boy isn't confused enough. Don't argue with me about the book etc etc, they hardly got frisky in the book okay.

Not too happy that Charlie was all comedian and I didn't like that they didn't show that Bella's breakdown and nightmares went on so long that Charlie just didn't bother checking on her at night anymore.

My view on Edward Cullen a.k.a Robert Pattinson:

MUCH better acting in this movie. Less stiff, more of that smile everyone likes. Yes, he is gorgeous when he smiles, but he DOES need a good shave and shampoo in his hair. I would totally do him, but only after that shave and shower.
Kudos Chris Weitz and gang pulled off the diamond-sparkling skin amazingly. He actually did look like he was sorta diamond encrusted, instead of Catherine Hardwicks' version which just made Robert Pattinson look like he was wearing and SHITLOAD of body glitter (EPIC fail).

On the other hand, RPatz, DUDE, you REALLY should have worked out a bit, doncha think? I mean we all know Taylor Lautner HAD to pack on the muscle to sustain his role as Jacob Black, but really - you do not look good topless and it was CLEAR as crystal that your abs were FAKE. Your "six pack" didn't even move when you were inhaling and exhaling when felix had you by the throat. Yeeeesh! I'm not saying put on 14.5kg of muscle, I'm saying tone the fuck up so you don't look like a complete idiot on tv instead of Adonis!

Neck up, you're still hot though ;) Call me.

My View on Jacob Black a.k.a Taylor Lautner:

*- if you're REALLY dating Taylor Swift, that's just WEIRD. Tay-Squared?!-*
Good job Jacob Black on the physical transformation and the natural acting. What I liked about his part in the movie is that he didn't seem to try too hard to act. Like it was an easy role for him to play and he just nailed it.

What I didn't like was how unbelievably stupid it was of him to take off his whole t-shirt JUST to wipe off some blood on Bella's forehead. Yeah...

"Hey, Dealer... if I were bleeding from the head, would you take your top off to wipe it off?" Okay, don't answer that, not funny considering what happened last year.

My Thoughts on the Wolves:

The final CGI did wonders and I liked how they stayed true to the books on the size of the wolves. I was trying very hard to figure out how the hell they'd be able to make the wolves as tall as a grown man without looking too... fake?
I didn't like how they didn't show much of her transistion and how she started fitting in with the Quileutes, but I guess they just didn't have enough time for that. Great scene at Emily's place though.

But hellooooo... that part where Bella SLAPS Paul?! WHAT THE FUCK just happened there?! yeah, that's right, Bella's repressed manic depression has made her some violent teenager that goes around slapping tall muscular men with anger issues. Right. (And what the hell was with that part where she took a ride on a motorcycle from some random dude?)

My Take on the Vampires:

I really hated Alice's outfit during the Volturi scene. Like REALLY hated it. She's supposed to be the most fashionable of the lot. Someone PLEASE tell me what was the stylist thinking that morning!?

I love the way the vamps look in the second movie though. Rosalie's wig was awesome, Jasper looked less constipated but I think I prefer his last look. Esme's eye make up and hair were gorgeous, Carlisle needs a wardrobe check. Maybe he can get one done with Alice. Emmet just looked big.

Victoria was kick ass and I loved her new hair. It was brighter, more like a fiery red and it made her eyes look really angry. I'm really upset that Rachelle Lafevre isn't going to be playing her in Eclipse, but I'm really excited to see how that plays out.

My favorite scene of the whole movie was actually an outtake of the book. It's the part when Edward's in Rio and finds out that Bella's fallen off the face of the planet. Sighhhh...
I was really looking forward to the action scenes with the Volturi, and errr... Well, let's just say that all the good stuff was features in TV spots and trailers.

Overall, the movie wasn't disappointing at all. I liked the new color filters and cinematography. I really liked the new speed sequences for the vampires. I just kept asking myself "SERIOUSLY???" at a few really silly scenes like when Alice shows Aro that Bella's going to be one of them, and the part where you see Edward for the first time in the movie. It was like a Volvo ad gone wrong with the wind and the corny entrance. GOD!

By the way, I've come to terms with the new BLACK Volvo. I don't give a shit, plus it's hardly in the movie. Hopefully it'll go back to being silver in movie #3.

This post will be edited in time with photos and links and all that stuff that I've been keeping tabs on through out the year.

In the meantime, I'm heading up North with the Average Crew for the long weekend. Have a happy one ahead!

The Biggest Sing-A-Long. Ever.

Last weekend I headed down to Jalan Bukit Bintang for that little event I blogged about a couple of weeks ago. The TM Carnival was HUGE! Just take a look at how many people were there!

clip_image002

Managed to catch Ean and JJ emceeing the gig.

clip_image004

It’s also really cool that I have them as friends, so they can tell the crowd to look into the blogger’s little camera and say hi. =)

clip_image006

So the TM Carnival was basically the largest karaoke session I have ever seen. Everyone got dummy microphones and sang along to the big screen right at the front.

clip_image008

clip_image010

I think the song at that moment was “21 Guns” by Greenday

clip_image012

Sorry about the quality of this photo, but I really think that JJ on screen like that looks like a music video or some sort.

clip_image014

Me and my dummy microphone. I sang along a bit.

Bumped into a few familiar faces too

clip_image015

clip_image017

Anyway, what amazed me was that people stayed and sang along through the downpour that hit in the middle of the whole event! I guess people were just having way too much fun to head indoors.

Everyone stayed even after acts like Reshmonu came on

clip_image018

clip_image019

There are more photos on their website and on Facebook. Some are really cool. I didn’t manage to stay for the later gigs over on stage when Bunkface came on.

Thanks TM!

On a separate note... I GOT MY TICKETS TO GO WATCH THE KILLERS IN SINGAPORE!!! =D

Getting to Know You

I'm all geared up for the Girly Sesh with Ling, Kim and M, but nothing much has changed with us - we're all still running late. LOL. So I'll just use this time to update you guys. There hasn't been Internet at home recently, but Streamyx is being good today. =)

Weekenders Guide to Bamboo9 (on a weekday)

We couldn't help but celebrate the end of our finals and Michii's birthday. She happened to be the poor soul that finished last amongst all of us.

Like a Full Time Job

Yesterday I had a photoshoot that lasted from 9.00am to 6.45pm. Man, I was beat. I don't know how professional models do it. I salute them! There was a wardrobe the size of Mexico, meaning I changed approximately 100 times yesterday.

Anyway they also gave me four different hairstyles and these are just two... What do you think?

Long curls?

Or long and straight, just like my old hair.

CatBit @ FashFab

I feel rather outdated, but also been having my exams lately, so please forgive and enjoy the photos instead.
A couple of Thursdays ago, the MUSA (Monash University Student Association) gang and I headed over to twentyone Kitchen + Bar on Changkat to catch CatBit's shindig for FashFab. It was an impromptu thing, having come from a paper that morning itself. I remember being VERY tired from a massive lack of sleep.

Catbit boutique was founded by Vincent Ng, a local entrepreneur who's generated a chain of economically (and by that I mean affordable) fashion retail stores with a steady growth just under two years. Bringing in the latest designs from Korea, Taiwan and Japan, the brand prides itself in offering the latest fashion trends to the average shopper.

Under the umbrella of Catbit, there are six more brands located in Sungai Wang Plaza and Times Square. Catbit, Refresh, Cova, Gazebo, Moment, I Boutique, Myth and www.theonlinefashion.com offer recessionistas work wear, casual apparels to dinner dresses and churns out a minimum of 120 designs per month to keep up with the ever changing trends, and
maintaining their competitive edge in the market.

That day I dragged along Daryl, Julian and Leon so they could battle it out (Nikon vs Canon) and go finger trigger happy.

Green Ties

Remember sometime ago when Dad bought me Brands Essence of Chicken for the mornings during my exams? Well, I didn’t mention that two pieces of string and a set of instructions came together with it, did I?

image

GH contest form-inner pack

Anyway, most of you might have taken notice to the big signboards along Jalan Bukit Bintang of like Chinese and Malay boys with those strings on their wrists and everything.

11431_169499387464_146963737464_2423736_6924287_n

So I checked that out, and found out that it was a contest and you stand a chance to win a trip to Disneyland Hong Kong!

Mom being me mom, was all “Eh, girl... try la. I didn’t bring you to Disneyland when you were a kid, so now you can bring yourself!” I swear, my mom is a contest junkie. On top of that, there are other prizes including an LG LCD tv. I kinda want that, since I missed out on the grand prize for the Most Wanted Ruumate campaign.

So this is how it works: The two pieces of string are actually called the Generasi Hebat Tie” and what you have to do with it is express yourself.

Haha. Yeah, that’s simple right?

Here’s my attempt at trying to win a trip to Hong Kong/LCD tv/ iPhone. I managed to get KidSisterAmelia in on it too.

Attempt #1: Makeshift hair tie.

P1020396

BRANDS

Attempt #2: Twirled neck piece that matches my glasses and a spin off the “Girl in the Green Scarf” from Shopaholic.

P1020395Okay, the Dealer just saw this pic and said I look damn stupid. hmph

Attempt #3: (Now this is more realistic) Since I’m still a student, and I still carry books, I thought I’d tie my books together oldskool like the ones they used to have back when I was in primary school!

P1020406

P1020407

I even added similar colored ribbons to pretty-fy it!

Log on to their official website or the Facebook fan page for more contest details. Upload a photo or video of you “expressing yourself” and make sure to tag the picture. I’ve already done my part.

The London Look

Warning: A shit load of photos ahead.

After the Topshop/Topman event on Friday night, it was decided that I would have an "average" weekend. I finally caught 500 Days of Summer with the Dealer and I have to say that even though so many people love that movie, it's clear that everyone has their own reasons to it.

I love that it's not a love story. I love that there was no true happy ending that you get in most romantic comedies. I love that Tom's character loved so many little things about Summer.

I really liked the filter they used for filming. The cinematography was truly something else. It was like EVERY scene had photo opportunities, and all were caught with a good eye. The only other movie I've felt that way about so far is the Dark Knight (most scenes looked like it had desktop wallpaper potential).

What did you like about the movie?

The line that hurt the most in the movie though:

Summer: I just woke up one day and I knew.
Tom: Knew what?
Summer: What I was never sure of with you

Ouch.

Anyway, back to the average weekend. I took out my Lumix LX3 and decided to self-teach. Played around with the camera a little bit and here's what I've gotten so far. I'm pretty new at this, so yeah.

LEGO Land in Mr. HoongSek's room.

the Red Beatle

Setia Alam Eco Park really reminds me of the O.C.

Boys being boys

Look for the fishies

I tried to take a photo of the rain. This is the best I could do. -does anyone know how to reduce noise?

We headed over to Sid's for Cider and some massive burgers for dinner.

I like this photo loads. If I didn't mention we were in Sid's (and I were reading someone else's blog) I'd think that Mr. HoongSek was in some pub in England. Me thinks it's got something to do with the denim jacket he's wearing.

Oh. My. God. I'm NOT a food blogger at all, but I just HAD to snap a photo of this. So sinful!

.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.

Yesterday, I popped by Mid Valley for a little beauty session. To be honest, I was rather tired, even though I didn't do anything but vegetate while it rained outside.

Rimmel London set up a huge roadshow, where bloggers, fashionistas and women who just love make up alike came to get dolled up and have their photos taken in Sevendays merchandise

Upon arrival I was a little lost. I didn't think they'd set up on the Lower Ground area of the Center Court in Mid Valley, so I wandered around from left to right and from one end of the mall to another just trying to locate the place Everyone was busy getting something done, I felt kinda lost.

Caught JoycetheFairy getting her make up done when I finally got there.

CheesieRingo Who had already taken her shots when I got there was getting her photos printed!

So like I said, everyone was busy doing something, I camwhored with TravinaJacinta.

with Joyce. She was done and ready to head back to Chic Pop by the time I was just going to start my make up!

We were given some goodies too! I really like the Union Jack sling bag. And to think I almost spent more than RM50 on one of those while I was in Bangkok! PFFFFFTTT!

And here's the end product!

Cheers you guys!

I Wear Topshop

What a weekend! Friday night was the Topman event at Zouk KL. A live gig by local acts local bands like Couple, Killeur Calculateur, Lovesick Avenue and Twinkies took the stage while SneakyNiki, Rames and I camwhored in the background sipping our beers.

Photo props to Rames

Anyway, I’m going to be all over KL today; Chic Pop at Zouk, Rimmel Roadshow in Mid Valley, small Scrabble tourney at Starbucks on Telawi and so hopefully I can make it to Lot 10 in time for the final call on the E-Karaoke thing before the huuuge event that I blogged about last week. It’s the last day today so make sure to pop on by. And catch me if you can ;)

Bright Eyes - Firts Day of My Life

It's so great when Streamyx is working at home despite the rain. I get to browse through all the type of stuff I love reading/watching/looking at. With coffee and Miles Davis in the background.

I found this while looking through my drafts. I forgot how much I really love this song. This video, really. Hope you guys like it too.

MRM = Memang Rela Mati

trying to revise on subjects I have been perpetually lost at all semester, dry ones that are full of theories and processes and turning down jobs because it's not possible to juggle them with university life.

I'm also fearing failure and the possibility of repeating these units. Oh God.

One more paper. Let's do this!

Okay, rant over.
